Buying a used vehicle is a power move, and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. It may feel like there is a stigma around buying a used vehicle like you’ll be getting an inferior, pre-abused product; however, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Often used vehicles are only lightly used, allowing you to get a higher-quality vehicle for a lower price, whereas if you were buying new, you might have to go with a lower-quality vehicle for a higher price. There is a time and a place for purchasing a new vehicle, but for many, buying a used vehicle opens up the possibility of going with a stronger brand.

Ultimately, purchasing a vehicle from a reliable brand is more important than purchasing a new vehicle; if the brand is good, its vehicles will be designed to withstand years of driving and maintain their reliability. With that in mind, used Chevrolets are one of the best deals a car buyer can seek. The brand is completely dedicated to excellence and progress, and they prove this year after year, as well as in the durability of their vehicles. Their vehicles have played a vital role in the automotive industry and continue to do so. There’s no way to go wrong with a Chevy, and every vehicle in the lineup holds its own. Today, we’ll share with you five great Chevy models you should consider if you are in the market for a used vehicle.

The Chevy Spark

The Chevy Spark is a spunky little cruiser, perfect for solo commuters looking for something small and fuel efficient. Bright and vibrant exterior color schemes for this two-door subcompact car make it pop on the road and craft an exciting aesthetic. Though it is a two-door model, it has four seats, so you have enough room to comfortably seat three passengers.

The Chevy Spark keeps finances low both on the front-end and back with a very affordable starting MSRP of $13,600 for a new model, meaning a used Spark means a seriously low price range.[a] More importantly, however, the Spark is incredibly efficient, with the 2020 model offering an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of up to 30 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. You won’t find numbers like that in any direct-injection vehicle, so the Spark is sure to keep money in your wallet and away from the pump.

The Chevy Malibu

The Spark may sound fun, but maybe a small hatchback car is too small for you. Fair enough. You can keep it small without keeping it too small. The Chevy Malibu is a very popular sedan, offering a variety of luxury features and even includes a hybrid model. The Malibu is yours to adjust as you see fit. If you’re looking for a functional sedan at an affordable price, the Malibu provides that. If you’re looking for a high-end sedan heading towards sports car territory, the Malibu can also provide that in its RS and Premier trims. The 2019 RS trim gives the Malibu a sporty and edgy feel with its black-out theme, which exudes mystery and subtlety. The Malibu is a great vehicle for those seeking a sports car aesthetic without the sports car price.

Of course, anytime the word “hybrid” comes up, there’s reason for excitement. While the industry is going electric, the world at large has not yet fully embraced it, as having an all-electric vehicle can be inconvenient. A hybrid model provides the benefits of an EV with the convenience of direct injection. More importantly, it means higher efficiency, meaning longer vehicle life and less money spent over time. The 2019 standard Malibu offers a fuel economy of 29 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway; very good for direct injection, but even that pales in comparison to the hybrid. You’ll get about 49 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway, which might sound impossibly good, but it is, in fact, very real.

The Chevy Equinox

A common dilemma, and one which you may experience, is feeling like a sedan is too small, but an SUV is far too large. There is a resolution to this problem—the crossover SUV. Crossovers (sometimes known as CUVs) provide the happy medium between a car and an SUV. The Chevy Equinox is one crossover that provides a good balance of space, luxury, and efficiency.

The Equinox is a great vehicle for young families with their first child or a couple who want to prepare for the future but need a vehicle for both family and work life. This five-seat crossover provides flexible space for both passengers and cargo. The 2019 model offers a passenger volume of 103.5 cu.ft., giving a comfortable ride for everyone, even those in the rear seats. Speaking of rear seats, those are foldable, allowing for up to 63.5 cu.ft. of cargo capacity. So, if you’ve got the kids (or another couple) and need the seats, you’ve got them. But, if you’re working on a house project and need to haul a load as a one or two-person job, then simply fold the seats and skip the truck rental.

If you’re looking for a vehicle that suits both family life and commuter life, the Equinox is a great option. While its crossover architecture provides the interior space desired for family life, its luxury options give it a sleek and sporty aesthetic for going out on date nights, driving colleagues, and anything else that may warrant sportier features.

The Chevy Tahoe

Maybe, though, even Crossover seems too small, and you are ready for the top dog. When it comes to Chevy’s top dog in the SUV department, there are two options—the Suburban and the Tahoe. The Suburban is the more iconic vehicle, having the distinction of being Chevy’s longest-lasting nameplate. It is a great truck, but the Tahoe doesn’t get enough attention, and it has upped its game in the past couple of model years, having been released as “All-New” for 2021. How has the Tahoe upped its game, you ask?

The Tahoe (and the Suburban) took on an all-new chassis design for the 2021 model year. Since the chassis provides the foundation for the vehicle’s architecture, we’re now looking at a Tahoe in a whole different class from its previous model years. This new chassis design comes with a sixty-six percent increase in cargo room behind the third row; we’re not even talking maximum cargo space, we’re talking minimum cargo space. Sixty-six percent means that the Tahoe added more than half of its already-generous cargo capacity to its already-generous cargo capacity. The Tahoe now offers a grand total of 122.9 cu.ft. of cargo capacity. That is a simply monstrous amount of space. If storage space is your main concern, the Tahoe is your easy solution.

Now, don’t think that the Tahoe is just a huge empty box; within that 122.9 cu.ft. you’ll find refined luxury features, leading technology, and integrated driver assistance and safety features. It’s a well-rounded SUV, and if you feel like an SUV might be the move, the Tahoe is better than ever.

The Chevy Silverado

If everything we just said about the Tahoe appealed to you, but you want something a little more work-savvy, then we’ve got just the car for you. Actually, it’s not a car at all. It’s a truck. The Chevy Silverado. This nameplate is iconic for a reason. The Silverado is a truck that continues to redefine the trucking experience. It’s a great vehicle to purchase used because it has been a leader since its debut, so there’s no bad model year. There is, of course, the charm of older, “vintage” models, but newer model years open up the doors to seriously amazing performance. The 2018 Chevy Silverado’s 6.2L V8 engine delivers a whopping 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, so it’s definitely amazing.

The Silverado is a very flexible truck with different types of configurations, including two-door and four-door models, regular cab, crew cab, double cab, large beds, small beds—you name it. The 2018 model was an exciting year for the Silverado, marking 100 years of Chevy trucking. That’s right; Chevy has been going strong with trucking since 1918, and it’s only going stronger today.

The 2018 model offers the impressive specs mentioned above, as well as an impressive array of trims. Some include the Midnight and Redline Editions, which offer sporty design features and exciting color schemes not usually found in trucks, and the Z71 trim, which makes the Silverado a fierce off-roader. The Silverado is ready for any job, whether it’s on or off the road or on the worksite. The truck offers over 12,000 lbs of towing capacity and has amazing technology to help aid it. Between its bed and towing capability, the Silverado will have you ready for serious work and fun.

Become Part of Chevy’s Rich Automotive History

Chevy has made history time and time again. Look through their previous models, and you will find important and nostalgic pieces of automotive history. We don’t necessarily think of a used 2018 Silverado as a part of that history now, but years from now, it will be part of Chevy’s continual evolution. While the all-new 2021 Tahoe is still new and exciting and by no means “history,” someday, that will be a significant segment in Chevy’s legacy.

You don’t have to be a collector to take part in this history; even if you’re looking for a used Chevy to serve you and your family, you’ve helped Chevy make history by driving their safe and reliable vehicles. A used Chevy is a great deal, whether it’s one of these five models or something else. Each represents a significant class in Chevy’s lineup, and getting one of these high-quality vehicles at a lower price by purchasing used is a fantastic opportunity. So, if you’re intrigued, we welcome you to stop by Parkway Chevrolet and let us show you everything a used Chevy has to offer!
