Balancing capability, practicality, and premium options takes some skill, but the first trim on our list does a pretty bang-up job.
The LT Trail Boss
Appearing on the scene with the 2019 model year redesign, the LT Trail Boss sits fairly high on the trim ladder. Because of its more recent introduction, used models still have plenty of the newer tech found in current models. The 2020 model is the sweet spot for this particular trim, equipped with a V8 and four-wheel drive for impressive capabilities.
When thinking about what features make a vehicle luxurious, off-road capabilities are probably not high on that list…unless you are an off-road warrior. The LT Trail Boss fantastically combines premium qualities with off-road prowess. This is in part due to the suspension package with a two-inch factory lift. Specialized monotube shocks and skid plates for extra protection take this comfy cruise to the trails.
Traditionally, luxury is reserved for those vehicles that are decked out in leather upholstery and above-average sound systems, like a few other trims on this list, but luxury can also mean indulgent. In the case of the LT Trail Boss, indulgent is exactly what we mean. If you want to hit the trails and do it in style, then the LT Trail Boss is the trim for you.
With an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, occupants can access Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. To sweeten the deal, the LT Trail Boss is equipped with a Remote Vehicle Starter System and Keyless Open and Start. This trim is everything you could want when looking for a top-of-the-line used Silverado that provides a great balance of off-road features and premium comforts.
The LTZ
The LTZ dates a bit further back, arriving in 2007, which provides more opportunities to snag a quality Chevy Silverado at a lower price. The LTZ has been the penultimate trim for many years, offering top-of-the-line features. We suggest considering the refreshed 2016 model, with its standard LED headlights and taillights. Heated and power-operated side mirrors also come on the LTZ.
Inside is where the lux qualities really shine through, with the front row rocking a split bench and leather cushioning. The seats are heated and power-adjustable for both the driver and front passenger. Power lumbar adds extra support for front occupants, while a memory setting for the driver can recall your preferred seat and mirror positions.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel matches the leather-appointed seats, tying the cab together. For entertainment, an eight-inch touchscreen connects to Pandora Radio, Bluetooth Streaming Services, and SiriusXM. A Wi-Fi hotspot is also available, but don’t expect Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in older examples like the 2017 model. However, an available DVD/Blu-Ray Entertainment Package was available, so keep an eye out for that possible add-on.
The Centennial Edition
To celebrate one hundred years of Chevy truck life, Chevy produced a special Centennial Edition model of the 2018 Silverado. This version includes pretty much everything that makes the LTZ grand but with an appearance twist that screams heritage. The unique Centennial Blue paint is the most distinctive trait of this special edition, along with its vintage emblems. Special one-hundred-year badging and chrome accents top off the design, making it a truly eye-catching truck. This is a great option for the Chevy lover looking for a high-end used Chevy Silverado.
The High Country
Now, anyone who is familiar with the Chevy Silverado knows that the High Country is the top dog when it comes to luxury styling and ultimate comfort. The High Country trim has been available since 2014, so you should have plenty of luck finding a used option that fits your needs. There are several model years that come stocked with premium goodies that only improve with time.
Inside the cab of the High Country, you will be treated to perforated leather seats, with both the driver and front passenger enjoying power seats with ten-way adjustability and lumbar settings. Heating and ventilation for the front-seat occupants also come standard on the High Country. The second-row guests aren’t left out, though, with heating for those sitting on the outboard seats.
The driver has the added bonus of memory recall for their seat and mirrors, adjusting the seat and outside mirrors to their preferred positioning with the touch of a button. A leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel puts luxury over the top for High Country drivers. The High Country also has a high-end entertainment make-over to complement the upscale seating.
An eight-inch, high-definition touchscreen comes standard on the early models but was upgraded to a 13.4-inch display for the 2022 model year. Since the High Country is the premium option, it adds extra conveniences like built-in navigation. Enhanced Voice Recognition eliminates the need to yell at your console, and wireless phone charging eliminates the need to yell at your phone when on long drives. A Wi-Fi hotspot lets you seamlessly connect to the internet, and a Bose sound system fills the cab with rich sound.
Just like previous trims we’ve covered, the High Country comes equipped with a remote start system, allowing you to get the vehicle warmed and ready to go before you even set foot inside. The 2019 and later models also come with keyless open and push button start, keeping you from needing to search for your keys in the caverns of your purse, briefcase, or even those abnormally deep pockets.
The High Country is a great example of a luxury truck, providing a premium experience without sacrificing the raw power of a full-size truck.
