Why Is the Chevy Trailblazer Such a Great Family Vehicle?

You have a ton of options when you’re looking for an SUV for a new or growing family—whether you want something for your daily commute, date nights with your significant other, or getting your kids where you need to go safely, you deserve to have a single vehicle that can do all of these things. While considering your options, a Chevy Trailblazer for sale might’ve caught your eye, and we wouldn’t blame you; it’s a fantastic vehicle with a lot to offer. People come back to the Trailblazer year after year, particularly for their families, so let’s take a look at why that is and what the Trailblazer can do for you.
Plenty of Space Inside
As a small SUV, it’s easy to imagine that the inside of the Trailblazer would feel a bit cramped or lacking, but that’s far from the case. The Trailblazer has a large and expansive interior that’s perfect for growing families, not only in terms of passenger seating but also with all of the cargo space that it comes with. This is something we always look for in a family vehicle, whether you have young children and need room for car seats, strollers, and more, or your kids are getting older and you have to be able to bring sports equipment or band instruments along with you, you need plenty of space to do so.
You’ll get more than 25 cu.ft. of cargo volume in the rear of the 2024 Trailblazer, giving you lots of room to bring stuff along with you even if you have up to five passengers in your ride. If you have fewer people but need to take more things with you, you can get more than 54 cu.ft. of total cargo space in the Trailblazer behind the front row of seats. Even better, because of how Chevy has designed its interior, this includes up to 8.5 ft of cargo length with some seats down, letting you load up with long items if you need to. And yet, you still get nearly 40 inches of legroom for rear-seat passengers, so adults who ride along with you will be very comfortable; plus, available options like a hands-free rear liftgate make it easy to load and unload your vehicle even with your hands full, something every parent we know can appreciate.

Remarkable Safety Features and Tech
A spacious vehicle is terrific, and we always look for it when suggesting a particular model to families or parents. But even more important than that is a vehicle that will help protect you and your loved ones. We’re always interested in safety features and look at them for any model we’d recommend, but with a family, that focus becomes even more vital. Nothing matters more than having a ride that will help protect you.
The 2024 Trailblazer comes with the Chevy Safety Assist standard on every model, which provides you with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features. This includes a Forward Collision Alert to warn you when a potential crash is detected, along with Automatic Emergency Braking to help you avoid it or reduce the severity of an impact. You also get Front Pedestrian Braking to help you avoid striking someone who unexpectedly steps out into traffic in front of you—protecting others and your family from such a traumatic event is also important.
Chevy Safety Assist includes Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning that alerts you if you seem to be drifting from your lane, which is perfect for when you’re tired or distracted by passengers in your vehicle. You get a Following Distance Indicator to warn you when you’re too close to the vehicle ahead of you, plus IntelliBeam auto high beam control that can turn your high beams off automatically to avoid blinding oncoming drivers and then turn them back on once you’ve passed them. Standard Cruise Control can be found on every Trailblazer model, with Adaptive Cruise Control available to elevate your drive and make your commute easier.
You also get one of our favorite bits of safety tech on the Trailblazer: Chevy’s Teen Driver technology. This is a system designed to help encourage safe habits for new drivers; you can do things like set a speed limit that activates an alert if they pass it. There are also volume limits when the system is activated—you tie it to a particular key fob so it only works with your teen driver—plus it mutes audio until front-seat occupants fasten their seatbelts. You even get an in-vehicle report card that you can check to see how your young driver is doing, making it easier to find points you need to coach them on or focus on when discussing their driving habits. All of this might not be necessary yet if you have a young child, but kids grow up faster than we ever expect, and being ready for the future is always a good idea.

Great Tech to Improve Your Drive
Chevy hasn’t only focused on tech to keep you and your family safe; there’s plenty of great technology packed into the Trailblazer to elevate your experience on the road overall. For example, every 2024 model comes with an 11-inch infotainment display standard, which looks stunning and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A big screen like this might seem like a luxury feature, but it makes it much easier to keep track of navigation, quickly explore different apps in your vehicle, and handle other things without distracting you from the road. It’s also paired with a standard 8-inch Driver Information Center displaying the information you need while driving.
A four-speaker sound system is standard in the Trailblazer, along with single-zone climate control, power windows, push-button start, and more. Looking at higher trims, like the Trailblazer RS, you get a number of upgrades such as a six-speaker sound system and an eight-way power driver’s seat that’s incredibly comfortable and easy to adjust. The RS features remote start and keyless open, which makes it easy to get going on busy mornings, plus more great features for you to enjoy. You can take things even further with a number of available options such as a seven-speaker Bose premium sound system, automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror to enhance your daily drive.
A Terrific Driving Experience
Speaking of that daily drive, we should also mention that the Trailblazer is incredibly fun on the road, thanks to its turbocharged engines. There’s a 155-hp engine available for boosted performance if you’re looking for something with a bit more oomph, as well as all-wheel drive (AWD)—front-wheel drive is standard on the Trailblazer. It’s easy to think of AWD as only being for people who want to go off-road or love camping, but it’s a great choice for any driver. The added traction and precision that AWD gives you, especially in rough weather, is something that can help protect your family and ensure you’re always in control when you’re behind the wheel. Plus, you still get fantastic fuel economy with the Trailblazer no matter which options you choose, so you can have a great drive and enjoy fewer stops for gas.
See What the Trailblazer Can Do for You and Your Family
Honestly, we’ve only scratched the surface of what we love about the Chevy Trailblazer and why it’s such an amazing vehicle for families. We didn’t even mention how great it looks, with options like an available two-tone roof or how well the RS model handles with its 19-inch wheels and dual exhaust outlets with chrome tips. And if you’re someone who enjoys the great outdoors, then the ACTIV model is perfect for heading to your favorite campsite thanks to its unique tires, shocks, and dampers that are designed for off-road capability. No matter what you’re looking for in a small, family SUV, the Trailblazer can deliver; plus, you know that it will take care of you and your loved ones for many years to come.
