The Colorado is Chevy’s dependable midsize pickup. Its agile handling and economical performance make it an ideal option for tradespeople who travel to different worksites or around urban areas. It offers a class-leading towing capacity of 7,700 lbs and a payload capacity of 1,684 lbs. Tradespeople on the go can benefit from an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 MPG combined. An 11.3-inch infotainment system keeps workers connected and also assists with towing and navigation.

2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT

The Silverado 1500 is Chevy’s flagship pickup. A versatile option for the working world, the 1500 has two distinctive powertrains that offer remarkable towing and payload capabilities. Its base powertrain is far from basic. It’s a 2.7L TurboMax I-4 producing 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The TurboMax provides a towing capacity of 9,500 lbs and a best-in-class payload of 2,260 lbs. The optional 5.3L EcoTec V8 is big on capability, with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. A tow rating of 11,300 lbs and a payload capacity of 2,180 lbs make the 5.3L engine ideal for a variety of tasks.

The Silverado 1500 has always been applauded for its versatility. The WT trim can be upgraded through numerous packages that enhance capability and protection. The WT Safety Package equips the WT with several safety and driving-assistance technologies. These items include front and rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, rear pedestrian alert, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert. Snow removal is a necessary service for colder climates. The Snow Plow Prep Package outfits the WT for these particular tradespeople. It includes skid plates for underbody protection, a high-output alternator, and a stronger air filter.

2026 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD

Heavy-duty jobs require heavy-duty vehicles. The Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD both have engines that are unavailable on the 1500. Both trucks take towing and payload capabilities to the absolute limit.

The 6.6L EcoTec V8 is the first of two powertrains available on the HD versions of the Silverado. The engine pairs with a ten-speed automatic transmission and produces 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. A Silverado 2500 HD equipped with the gas-powered 6.6L V8 can pull 18,700 lbs and facilitates a payload of 3,689 lbs. Stepping up to the 3500 HD provides a tow rating of 19,080 lbs. Payload capability is increased to 7,234 lbs.

Like the 1500, the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD have an available diesel powertrain that offers incredible performance and capability. The diesel-fueled V8 produces 470 hp and 925 lb-ft of torque. A 2500 HD equipped with the capable diesel V8 can pull 22,430 lbs. It also offers a generous payload capacity of 3,615 lbs. Tradespeople whose tasks are larger than normal will be impressed with the capability of a 3500 HD with a diesel V8. It allows the truck to tow 36,000 lbs. Payload is just as impressive, with a maximum weight of 6,638 lbs.

2026 Chevy Silverado EV WT

It’s not just gas and diesel-fueled engines that help others get their tasks accomplished. The Chevy Silverado EV, an all-electric pickup, is just as capable at towing and payload as its counterparts. Tradespeople can accomplish their tasks while bypassing the pump.

The Silverado EV offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 493 miles per charge. It’s an ideal choice for tradepeolle who spend a considerable amount of time commuting between job sites. By harnessing electricity to its fullest potential, the Silverado EV offers a maximum tow rating of 12,500 lbs. It can also facilitate a payload of up to 2,350 lbs.

2026 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab

Chevy’s commercial truck options extend beyond its pickup fleet. The brand offers chassis cabs and cutaways that can be outfitted to serve a variety of trades. Among the most versatile is the Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab. It utilizes the 3500 HD’s available powertrains and is a popular choice for many upfits that turn it into the ultimate service vehicle.

Utility trucks can be outfitted with multiple storage containers to hold tools and other occupational implements. This is ideal for tradespeople who work in HVAC and utility services.

Dump trucks are suitable for drivers who work in refuse removal and construction cleanup. The 3500’s high payload capacity makes for a highly capable dump truck.

A flatbed configuration is suitable for transporting materials that won’t fit in a conventional pickup. Drivers who need to move lumber, drywall, and other construction materials can benefit from a flatbed upfit. It also makes it easier to tow a gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer with no tailgate in the way.

2026 Chevy Silverado 4500, 5500, and 6500 HD Chassis Cabs

Some jobs are larger than others and require more capability. There are additional chassis cabs that support even heavier payloads and have a higher GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Each model can help you unlock the full potential of your trade or business. For 2026, the Silverado 4500 HD has a maximum GVWR of 16,500 lbs. The 5500 HD increases this to 19,500 lbs. At the top of the line, the Silverado 6500 HD offers a maximum GVWR of 23,500 lbs. All three chassis cabs are equipped with a Duramax diesel V8 producing 350 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an Allison ten-speed automatic transmission, increasing its capability.

Ten available auxiliary switches increase the capability to upfit any of the three chassis cabs. These can be configured for a wide variety of applications, including dump trucks, box trucks, flatbeds, and even cranes. Other uses include material handling and transportation, both commercially and for home package delivery. Emergency medical services may recognize these trucks as the basis for the ambulances they use every day.
