5 Special Packages to Look for on a 2021 Chevy Colorado

Are you looking for a terrific used pickup with features that make your daily drives and tasks easier to manage? Is fuel economy important to you? If so, we highly recommend checking out a 2021 Chevy Colorado. The Colorado is a midsize pickup, offering an excellent combination of towing and payload capabilities, easy-to-maneuver dimensions, and good fuel efficiency for its vehicle class. As a used truck dealer near Katy, we’d love to introduce you to this fantastic model, but why do we recommend the 2021 model specifically?
One of the perks of shopping used is that you can find models that the previous owner already invested their own dollars into upgrading with phenomenal packages. We highly recommend checking out a 2021 model because it will have many of the infotainment and driver assist features today’s drivers have grown accustomed to having in their vehicles, but on top of those little upgrades. Adding packages when purchasing a new vehicle can be costly, but when you shop used, you can benefit from terrific packages if you know what to look for. Below, we’ll cover packages to look for when shopping for a 2021 Chevy Colorado.
The Safety Package
If you want to feel more confident traveling down the I-10 during rush hour, consider finding a preowned Colorado with the Safety Package available on the LT and Z71 trims. This package adds two additional safety systems to your Colorado’s safety suite: Lane Departure Warning, which notifies you if you are drifting out of your lane, and Forward Collision Alert, which notifies you if you are at risk of running into the vehicle in front of you. Both of these relatively simple features are great for workers on late-night drives out from a work site, helping to combat the risks of fatigue. On the LT, the Safety Package also includes Rear Park Assist, which provides camera-based guidelines for parking in reverse.

The Luxury Package
Looking to make your Colorado a more enjoyable place to be? Consider looking for a used Colorado with the Luxury Package. Available only on the LT trim, this package focuses on various interior comfort features that you’d typically find on Chevy’s High Country trims on some of their other models. Projector-beam headlamps, single-zone automatic climate control, and heated driver and front passenger seats with driver power lumbar control, to name a few. If you suffer muscle fatigue or discomfort in the lumbar region of your back after a long workday, these features help promote comfort on those long drives back home.
Single-zone automatic climate control remembers your vehicle’s preferred temperature settings and automatically adjusts the cabin temperature to your liking every time you turn on the ignition. At the same time, the heated driver and front passenger seats help you warm up quickly after leaving a winter game at Legacy Stadium in Katy. The projector beam headlamps help to improve visibility during a foggy early morning commute or a dark ride home. Do note that you will only find this package on crew cab models. It’s also important to note that this package will always come with the LT Convenience Package, which we will cover next.
The LT Convenience Package
As its name suggests, the LT Convenience Package can only be found on the LT trim, featuring the addition of more minor comfort features such as fog lamps, heated power-adjustable body-color mirrors, a remote start system, and a sliding rear window with a defogger. Fog lamps are self-explanatory, helping to cut through thick fog on early morning commutes. The heated mirrors help if you’re up early in the morning before frost and dew have had a chance to melt off your mirrors. If you’re planning an early drop-off at the airport during the winter months, these mirrors will melt away condensation, ice, and anything else interfering with your side visibility.
The sliding rear window with a defogger further increases visibility. If you have the time, you can open that window to allow the other windows and windshield to naturally clear up, or you can save yourself the time and turn on the rear window defogger to quickly increase visibility out the rear glass. Arguably, the most helpful feature of the LT Convenience Package is the remote start functionality. Everyone knows how nice it is in the winter months to warm up your car without leaving your house, but the convenience goes even further with the Luxury Package, allowing you to turn on that single-zone automatic climate control we discussed before even getting in your truck.

The WT Convenience Package
On the flip side, let’s look at the WT Convenience Package, which is only available on the WT, the base trim for the Colorado. This package is for workers, first and foremost, who get to enjoy various convenience and utility features that are terrific for contractors, agricultural workers, and similar professionals. This package includes a theft-deterrent system, remote keyless entry, cruise control functionality, and Chevy’s EZ Lift tailgate with power locking and release. The theft deterrent system uses door sensors to monitor for forced entry and startup attempts when the truck is locked and the system is engaged. If it detects any kind of entry attempt to the truck without use of the keyless entry button, it will activate an alarm, turning on the horn, siren, and flashing lights.
In line with promoting loss prevention from theft or, more commonly, bumpy roads, this package boasts the EZ Lift tailgate with a power lock. So, if you need to store valuable tools and equipment in your pickup bed that might attract thieves or get jostled and thrown during a rough ride, lock it up and keep it safe.
On the convenience front, this package gets you remote keyless entry. When the vehicle is equipped with this, all you have to do is press the button on the keyfob, and the vehicle will automatically unlock the driver’s door. On the flip side, cruise control functionality ties in well with convenience. Set your desired speed and allow the vehicle to maintain it while you take your foot off the gas or brake pedal. If you have to travel long distances between job sites, these features can help prevent headaches.
The Trailering Package
Finally, we end at the Trailering Package, which comes standard on the ZR2 and is available on all other trims. Naturally, finding a used Colorado with this is ideal if you need to tow as a part of your regular work or recreation, and it isn’t a hard one to find, thanks to that availability. The Trailering Package includes a heavy-duty trailer hitch and a seven-pin connector. However, it can only be found on Colorado models with the available 3.6L V6 engine and the automatic locking rear differential on the WT or LT trim, or when paired with the 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine on the LT trim. These engines are remarkably powerful and valuable for towing and pair nicely with that trailer hitch.
