A lot of people are excited for what Chevy has coming down the pipeline for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 series. However, some people might be a bit confused about the availability of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD, given that it seems just like the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. Well, you’re right about that to an extent. Due to delays caused by recent world events, Chevy wasn’t quite on schedule to release the fully redesigned 2022 Silverado 1500 on time, so they released a holdover model that mimics the 2021 version, which they named the 2022 Chevy Silverado LTD. So, when you visit Parkway Chevrolet, your Pinehurst Chevy dealer, you are going to want to pay close attention to the model you are looking at or ask us to help you find the right Silverado model.

Why Is It Called the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD?

In the name 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD, the LTD part actually stands for “Limited.” What it means is that it’s a limited time iteration of the model year because it works as a stop-gap between the 2021 model year Silverado and the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado. It’s called the Limited or shortened to the LTD because it’s only going to be available as a limited model year offering with a limited production run.

Typically, these sorts of situations arise when new features for a model year are pushed back. To help keep shoppers’ attention and some customers from going elsewhere, a vehicle release was needed to fill in the void. This is why the LTD model exists. Now, this isn’t a trim, in case you were wondering. The LTD doesn’t replace or add to any of the existing trim line-ups for the current iteration of the Silverado 1500. It’s simply there to offer those who want a brand new Silverado a way to get the latest model year as it’s made available from the assembly line.

What Does the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD Feature?

If you were one of the unfortunate truck shoppers who missed out on buying a new 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, the good part is that the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD is a redo of the 2021 model year. It has all the same features as the 2021 model year, including the trim line-up, powertrain options, and packages. This is a great way to get your hands on a Silverado 1500 with all of the features and options from the 2021 model year but made as a new 2022 model before the big refresh. The 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD is available in eight different trims, which include:

  • WT
  • Custom
  • Custom Trail Boss
  • LT
  • RST
  • LT Trail Boss
  • LTZ
  • High Country

You have access to ten different exterior colors and four interior colors. The LTD also comes with additional packages, such as the Performance Upgrade Package, as well as the Midnight Edition. You still have access to all of the available powertrains from the 2021 model year, too, such as the 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8, the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, and the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. It comes standard in rear-wheel drive, but the option for four-wheel drive is also available.

Inside, the LTD comes with everything you would expect from a modern model year Silverado. This includes being powered by the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, which comes standard across every trim and features an 8-inch touchscreen for the LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims. Every trim also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as cloud-connected personalization.

You can maintain your connectivity within the Silverado cabin thanks to Bluetooth wireless support, which also enables voice-activated controls for smartphone and infotainment functionality. The added Wi-Fi hotspot feature also allows you to stay connected when away from local Wi-Fi hubs. So you’re not missing out on anything with the 1500 LTD build.

How Can You Get the LTD Model?

While it will only be available for a limited run, if you want to get your hands on an LTD model, simply work with us. We will help you find a model on our lot that fits what you are looking for, or we can help you custom order one. If you want the Silverado 1500 LTD, there’s nothing stopping you from getting your hands on one. You can order it across all of the available trims, with all of the accessories, packages, and options that were available from the previous model year.

You can even outfit the LTD with extra features like the universal home remote, bed utility options, exterior cargo management systems, and electronic kits such as the amp-wiring package and the battery jump-start bundle. If you wanted a brand new Chevy Silverado model with tried and true performance, then you certainly get that with the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD. It comes with everything from the previous outing, just with the extra LTD in the nameplate and the option to purchase it as a stop-gap between the last model year and the new refreshed model.

Unlike some 2022 model years out there for some nameplates, Chevy decided to at least make a model available for those who wanted it, so you’re not delayed in trying to get your hands on one, even though they are releasing an updated model soon. They wisely decided to stave off the refreshed 2022 model year to get the supply shortages under the reins but also decided to keep interested buyers sated with the Silverado 1500 LTD.

Should I Wait for the Refreshed Silverado or Go With a 2022 Silverado LTD?

One of the most important questions anyone might have regarding the refreshed Silverado and the 2022 Silverado LTD is which one should you get? Well, it depends on what you find desirable out of a light-duty pickup of the Chevy variety. Are you eyeing a new Silverado 1500? Do you want the refreshed 2022 model year? Are you interested in the refreshed fourth-generation model?

If you don’t have to have the latest model year right now, and can actually wait, then you can opt for the refreshed model. However, if you missed out on the 2021 model year Silverado 1500 and you do want to get your hands on one, then there’s no reason to pass up the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD. It’s still a brand new model year, and you still get all of the features that were available from the previous model year. This works out well for those who thought about getting a 2021 Silverado but didn’t get the chance to.

If you’re on the fence about the benefits of going with the LTD, well, just keep in mind that while it is just a continuation of the previous Silverado generation, its engine and styling are proven to be worth the cost. New generations of models are exciting, but sometimes, you might want to go with the version you know. Or maybe you just prefer the styling of the LTD over the refreshed look of the all-new model. There are plenty of arguments as to why you may want to choose one model over the other, and if you need help sifting through all of the options and considerations, we are happy to help.
